Having been painting for over 55 years I found the epic landscape tradition of Joseph Turner and the Hudson River School of Thomas Cole, Albert Bierstadt and others to be the most challenging to paint and the most needed in our cynical, over-wrought world of today. It’s an invitation to look up towards something more noble and profound, or in many of my paintings to look down from the heights, where civilization's problems seem almost insignificant
